Rocky Bowlers
We would first like to welcome back the past Rocky Bowlers. It is great to have so many of you returning year after year it means we are doing it right. To the NEWBIES, welcome and we hope the Rocky Bowl will accomplish it's purpose, getting you to watch more football bowls and care who wins absolutely meaningless games.
The scoreboard should be posted by Sunday morning, so when you wake up, know that just because you put 34 on Fresno State you are not out of it (Hammer), as 18 out of 80 did the same. In fact 2015 points were bet on Fresno while only 34 were bet on the winner Wyoming. What a great game to start out the Rockybowl.
(The scoreboard is updated every day and sometime after each game)
We ask every year PLEASE make comments to these posts and if you would like to make a post your self, PLEASE do so. Just click on Comments add your own using anonymous access (but please leave your name). These posts are meant to be boastful, resentful, sinful, and even funnyful.
Now, I expect to hear more from all of the other commissioners on this post so please go to the bottom of it and read comments as your replies for each post will be shown only if you click the 'Comments'.
After the first two games why is Cheetah Wood's at the top of a scoreboard again? And who is this other undefeated, a retired dude from Alaska who must be in the work release program. How can you let a "Prognosticator" and a "Cheetah" kick your Rocky Bowl asses? Congrats to you both but lets get out there and puff up our chests and scream "We are mad as hell and are not going to take this any more"
Happy Bowling and let the fun begin.
Rocky

Fresno State sucks; thank God for Rutgers or else the day would have been a disaster! I can't stand when Vicki 'afraid or not' is ahead of me in the standings. I need a cigar! Why do I ever bet on a team whose state is going bankrupt!
ReplyDeleteI would just like to say that I golfed better than he did today as well! Life is good.
ReplyDeleteBetter luck tomorrow to all of us!
Vicki 'afraid, scared, whatever'........
He really kicked my ass at golf but he allows me to believe I did better...what a good guy.
Are you kidding me? The nation's leading rusher can't get in from the 1 yard line against WYOMING? Three freaking times? I'd say to hell with 'em, they deserved to lose, but they lost my 34 points, damn it!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Wyoming. Perhaps they will use their bowl revenue to buy a better color scheme.

ReplyDeleteBowlers,
Here are my picks. Each year it's like a dog returning to his own vomit... thinking that with one year between the last visit to the vile pile that it will somehow stink less than it remembers... but alas, the fragrance resumes in full fume once the first snap of the first game is fumbled...
These are my pathetic picks circa 2009-2010 BCS...
Scientifically chosen, researched, fretted over, considered and reconsidered... power ratings, streaks, "momentum", spreads, QB's and DB's ranked... you name it. Only to finish in the bottom of the heap once more.
I prefer to send my future losing by PayPal... rockybowl2009@comcast.net right?
(my daughter has also entered this pool... please don't notify Child Protective Services as this (BCS series) is harmful to a young mind)

ReplyDeleteHi all --
I hope you all enjoyed the first day of the Rockybowl. It's only fitting that it started out with an awesome Double OT game. If you are new to the Rockybowl, I guarantee you were on the edge of your seat rooting for your first points. What a wonderfully agonizing experience. That's what Rocky always says. Notice Rocky got 1 pt for his insightful pick of the Cowboys, and then promptly lost 20 pts on UCF. Are you kdding me? But it is the Rocky bowl after all. And it's off to a fantastic start.
Look in the Rockybowl Favorite links for the latest Score sheet through Game2. I'll update it at least daily. For days with many games, I'll update it more frequently. Feel free to double check my work at home. It is everyone's responsiblity to double check your picks (after the initial transfer) and promptly notify the commissioners of any discrepancies. We still have your Master Selection Sheet, so if you notice any mistakes, we'll cross check it for you andmake any needed corrections.
I'll add other analysis sheets as I have time over the next few days. After 13 Hours of driving, I am not quite up to working through any more freeakin spread sheets. Thanks for you understanding.
Cheers, TopCoug

ReplyDeleteHey suckers, 2-0 in my first Rockybowl. I told you I would dominate. I'm going after the coveted Bobbi Breeze trophy baby! I need it... I need it bad.

ReplyDelete3-0 Hah! The Rockybowl may just save my marriage yet!
Where's "The Z"? Below Humpie and The Greek. Pick it up, TA!
ReplyDeleteCheeze, 3 games and still 19 people with zip points.
ReplyDeleteAfter another very disappointing performance by a Pac-10 team in a Bowl Game, there are still 14 participants with 0 pts. Unbelievable!
ReplyDeleteBe sure to check out the updated Scoresheet to find out how you are doing with Points Won and Your total Points possible. Also included is the updated Selection Analysis. It's interesting if you are a data geek.
As the only bowler of 77 to pick Michigan State over Georgia Tech, clearly they're my ticket to victory! Or probably more clearly, I'm completely delusional and paid very little attention to what I was doing while making picks (see my Northwestern over Auburn pick for more proof of that theory).
ReplyDeleteConsidering Michigan State plays Texas Tech, I'm going with the "completely delusional" diagnosis. On the plus side, "The Z" makes a big move! Gaining almost 30 spots and getting out from under "Humpie" is a reason to celebrate. Way to go TA!
ReplyDeleteRockrep -- Just to be clear, you are the only Rockybowler out of 85 entrees to pick Michigan State. The game has 2102 pts on Texas Tech and just your 12 on Michigan State. Good luck, it sounds this could be a good opportunity for you. That is if your other picks pan out ;)

The Pac-10 does this to me everytime. The top Pac-10 teams spend all season believing that they can achieve their BCS or Rose Bowl Goals. Once their dream is shattered, the motivation to perform in a lower tier bowl just for the sake of the Rocklybowlers is gone. Then they show up to the party just so that their conference can take in the paycheck, and then they stink up the join.
ReplyDeletePac-10ers, this is where you get the "East coast bias" you complain about so much. Pantsed by the Mountain West again! I don't care what UCLA did against Tennessee in September, this conference looks like a joke right now. Luckily, Ohio State chokes more than any other on the big stage, so maybe you'll get the Rose Bowl, and by the time the ACC is done puking all over itself, nobody will care to talk about the putrid stench that is Pac-10 football anymore.
ReplyDeleteSMU? Are you kidding?
